"The End of the Drive"
Chadron's Quasquicentennial is being celebrated in 2010. This painting represents Longhorn cattle being driven down the Main Street of Chadron in 1885. A morning cattle drive through downtown Main Street with trail worn cowboys and very thin longhorn cattle, whose journey took them thousands of miles. The Trail Boss is standing on the corner of Main Street and Second Street. These are the tough ones that survived. Thousands of cattle perished coming North.
Sheila Orr the artist and her husband Monte own a cattle ranch, so Sheila is very familiar with all that it takes to raise cattle. She has been on the ranch for 25 years. Sheila has won many awards for her artwork. Her artwork has been shown in Galleries and are in corporate and private collections across the United States and abroad. When she is not painting or sketching from their Sandhills Ranch, she is flying airplanes with her husband Monte.
